Connor

Yesterday morning at 8am Connor took his last breath. He was sleeping peacefully with his parents by his side. We are all so blessed to have so much love and support from our family and friends. His service will be later in the week.

I’m still in complete disbelief. There’s no other way to describe it but completely surreal. Yesterday after they came and took him I just kept waiting for him to walk down the stairs and join us.

My sister Danielle and I are putting together scrapbooks for the wake. It’s been great to look trough all the pictures of him and remember all the good times we had together. It’s been hard, yet healing at the same time. He was loved by so many people and was a great brother.

Connor we will always miss and love you!

Things have been so crazy lately my brother, Connor, has been battling brain cancer for over three years now. The past few weeks he has taken a turn for the worst. Sunday we had Hospice come get him set up at home. He has been sleeping since Sunday and not eating. This is one of the hardest things I have ever gone through. I know when his fight is over he will be in a better place watching over us.

I have tons of scrappy things to share but bare with me as I most likely wont be able to get on here for a few days. Thank God I have scrapbooking to help me cope with tough things like this. It saves me!

Connor we love you!!!!

Playing with color

Yesterday I was playing with my new Maya Road ruffle ribbon. I really love it but it only comes in three colors. I decided on cream thinking I could use Glimmer Mist and Maya Mist to dye it. The results….

AMAZING!!!
My suggestion is to try the color first on a small piece of ribbon because sometimes the color comes out very different than it does on chipboard or paper.

Also I’ve been working on our vacation album…

I love reliving our trip while I scrap it. Most likely I will do the whole thing in 8 1/2 X 11. Its been forever since I’ve made a whole album that size…so far I’m liking it.

Ok back to scraping…have a great weekend!!!

It’s Challenge Day!

Last week Ann Marie’s challenge was to use holiday product for a none holiday layout. I loved this challenge and will most definitely use it again! The timing worked out great since I am working on our album of or recent trip to Park City. Here is my take on it:

The skiing people paper is from Joy Ride by Collage Press and the pink paper is from Merry and Bright by We R Memory Keepers.

So my challenge for this week is to make a layout using this rug as inspiration.

I love the contrast of colors on the dark grey back ground.

Can’t wait to see what yours looks like!

Photo storage/ Layout planning

Have you ever had a specific idea or title for a layout and when you sit down to do it your mind goes blank? It happens(ed) to me a lot! My memory is terrible (really it is. I’m scared to get old, who knows what it will be like then)and I was so tired of forgetting my layout ideas so I made this form. Basically you can create it to suit your needs. As you can see below the points I wanted to document or remember are:

1) What event are the pictures from
2) Date
3) Where
4) If I had a title in mind
5) What I want to journal about. Sometimes it has nothing to do with what the event is or what we were doing in the picture. It may be a feeling or a quote etc.
6) If there was a specific product I had in mind
7) Sketch

Now I don’t fill out the form completely for every layout I want to create. Sometimes I just want to jot down a title and date, etc.

This has been a very helpful tool for me. Hopefully this will help some of you out too 🙂

First Flea Market

Today my sister and I drove up to the Long Beach Flea Market. It was so fun! There was some pretty amazing things. I could have redecorated most of the rooms in our house with stuff from there. I went with my list of things I was looking for but also keep an open mind because who knows what you can find at places like that. Along with a sunburn here are a few things I got:

I’ve been looking for frames for our family room…these are perfect. I’m digging the rustic-ness but I think I’m going to paint them to match the other frames. Everything I got was such a great deal! Some people definitely were trying to sell things for crazy amounts of money. I just stayed away from them 🙂

I really really really wanted these artichokes!!! They were just to pricey. Now I’m on a hunt for some cheap ones.

This bench is so fun!

One thing I can say about the flea market is there were all different kinds of people there. It was more diverse than Disneyland!

If you ever get the chance to go to a flea market do it! Even if you don’t find anything it’s still fun.

Party ♥

The other day while blog hopping I discovered this amazing site Hostess with the Mostess. They have amazing party ideas and since I love love love having parties this site is like gold.

This is just one of the amazing pictures of inspiration they have. If you like having parties (or even if you don’t but are having to do one) this site is fab!
